Davis Stampede Half Marathon Training Week 1 & Weekly Wrap 12/21/-12/27

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! This week started my half marathon training for the Davis Stampede half marathon in February. I took a look at the Hal Higdon Intermediate training plan I usually follow and it looks like I have 9 weeks until the Davis Stampede so I am starting at week 4 of his plan. I couldn't follow it so much this week with traveling to Utah to visit my mother-in-law's place for the holiday but I did what I could.

Here's a recap of last week's workouts

Monday 12/21 - Rest
Tuesday 12/22 - Rest. Arrived in Utah.
Wednesday 12/23 - T25 Alpha Cardio

Thursday 12/24 - 4 miles at the local rec center's indoor track.

Friday 12/25 - Merry Christmas!! Rest day.
Saturday 12/26 - 7 miles at the the local rec center's indoor track.
Sunday 12/27 - Rest

I didn't manage an outdoor run this week due to the snow and cold weather. I just wasn't comfortable running outside where my mother-in-law lived because it just did not seem safe. They got so much snow while here and not only that, it was freezing cold. Overnight lows a couple of days were in the negative temps.
There aren't any sidewalks or running trails, so I opted to run indoors at the local rec center that was nearby. It's a pretty awesome facility and I actually wish there was something like it back in Davis. The water facility they have is pretty awesome for kids because it has a play area and a neat water slide.

The whole fam came on Saturday to the rec center while I ran. The kiddos had a blast at the water facility. Check it out below.
It also had this awesome water slide that the kiddos loved!
After lunch and cleaning up, Hubby and I headed out to Park City for date night. Thanks to Mother-in-law and her boyfriend, they took care of the kiddos so it was pretty awesome. We don't get date night much (it's been so long) so this was an awesome present from them. We started out by walking along Main Street in Park City to browse the shops. We walked most of main street and even stopped to get some hot chocolate. It was fun checking out the shops and stopping to take some pics.
My favorite part of the night was eating dinner at Grappa Italian Restaurant. It's a cute restaurant that looks like a house from the outside. The food was delicious. We had calamari as an appetizer and then shared the Seafood Fra Diavolo and the Duck Confit Risotto. Both were so yummy. It was extra nice because I had a nice seat with a view!
It was a great night! So nice to have time with Hubby all alone and when we got back the kiddos were fine! So happy they were ok with Grandma.

Sunday was a relaxing day in the morning. Lots of games with the kiddos, both Monopoly and a new game they got for Christmas, Blokus. It's a fun one too!
After lunch, we headed outside to go sledding. We waited till afternoon so the temps could go up to a good 11 degrees. :) It actually wasn't so bad all bundled up and we were so glad there wasn't any wind while sledding.
Once the sun started to set, we knew it was time to head back to the house. We did end up going out to dinner at the Rhode Island Cafe which was a fun diner in Oakley. The food was good and the owner was very friendly talking to each table. Nice small town diner to visit!
That sums up my week. We head back to CA later tonight! I'm excited to get back home and in warmer temps! :) Linking this post up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.
Have a great week!
