Chicago Marathon Training Week 2: 6/27-7/3

Happy 4th of July! Last week was a great week of workouts! I managed to get in two sessions of cross training working on my core and I also did a better job of following my pace times in my RunnersConnect marathon training schedule. I did manage 111 miles total for the month of June. I'm always happy when I reach over 100 miles and I'm thinking with marathon training I will have no problem reaching over 100 miles in July.

Here's a recap of last week's workouts:

I'm very happy with how the week went. Next week is going to be interesting as I've got two races on my schedule. I've got the Davis Moonlight Run Half Marathon Saturday evening and Represent Running's Across the Bay 12K in San Francisco, Sunday morning. I haven't quite decided if I will treat the half marathon as a regular training run or if I will race it. I kind of want to race it to see if I can get close to a PR. I'm still early in my marathon training so I figure it won't hurt and I have been running all of my runs lately pretty easy. I will for sure treat the Across the Bay 12K as a easy run. I guess I will just play it be ear Saturday evening. That's another factor to consider too, since it is an evening race, it will probably still be hot and I'm not used to running in the evening...I dunno. We'll see.

As to the weekend, it was a great one! After Saturday's early morning 6 miler, we headed out to hike Horsetail Falls, which is South of Lake Tahoe. It was another awesome hike. Here are a couple of pics. Trip report will be up on the blog soon!
On Sunday, we checked out the closest water park to us, Raging Waters in Sacramento. It was a fun time especially since we are only 20 minutes away and if you buy a day you get a season pass for the summer. There aren't many water slides, but the kids can't do them anyway (height restrictions), but they had a blast at the wave pool and lazy river. Major downside of the place is you can't bring your own food and the food they have there isn't great. It took us almost an hour waiting in line to get our food from Carl's Jr., it was that bad. Next time we are eating before we get to the park!

It was a fun time for all minus the lunch craziness.
That sums up my week! Linking this post up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.
Have a great week!
