Chicago Marathon Training Week 6: 7/25-7/31

It's been a busy but fun week! We were in Anaheim most of the week at Disneyland/California Adventure and had a blast! The Disney parks are so much fun! As to marathon training, I modified my training plan so it went with my sister's, I figure it wouldn't hurt to change my schedule a bit this week. It was so nice running with her! It's a cut back week for me and I think it went well considering we were away on vacation most of the week.

Here's a recap of last week's workouts:

Monday 7/25 -
Scheduled: Off or cross training
Actual: Off. Traveled to Anaheim.
Tuesday 7/26 -
Scheduled: 5 miles easy with 4 x 20 sec strides @ 7:08 pace
Actual: Decided to follow my sister's training plan while she was visiting so 3 easy miles before California Adventure.
Wednesday 7/27 -
Scheduled: Off or cross training
Actual: 4.5 miles which includes 25 minutes of pickups and recoveries before Disneyland.
Thursday 728 -
Scheduled: 1 mile w/u, 5 mile cutdown (9:08, 8:58, 8:48, 8:38, 8:28 pace, no rest), 1 mile c/d
Actual: Rest day. Woke up for magic morning so we didn't have time for an early run.
Friday 7/29 -
Scheduled: Off or cross training
Actual: Back home. 30 minute run with strides in between.
Saturday 7/30 -
Scheduled: 5 mile easy run
Actual: 5 miles with a friend. I was supposed to be at a slower pace but somehow ended up running faster even while talking and it didn't feel hard. Running with friends definitely makes the miles go by faster.
Sunday 7/31 -
Scheduled: 8 mile easy run
Actual: 8 miles easy 9:42 pace.

The fun for the week was of course Disneyland/California Adventure. We had 3 day park hopper passes and definitely made the most of each day. We took advantage of the fast passes and made sure we got one right when we could so that we would have something else to go to next. Fast passes are the way to go unless you are ok with waiting in a long long line. Hubby had it planned out really well and on most days we had ridden all of the big rides before lunch using fast passes. I really enjoyed the Frozen show at the Hyperion and the parades along with the fireworks. The boys loved Jedi training and of course all of the rides. My favorite rides were Soarin, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and the Cars ride. It truly is a magical place for all. Below are a few of my favorite pics from our trip.

We got back to Davis, Friday afternoon and it was back to reality on Saturday. After my 6 miler it was pretty much a day of rest and errands. We did get to the park for some Pokemon Go.
Sunday morning, I ran 8 miles for my long run. It was a good run. Turns out I ran 123 miles for July! The most miles in a month for me this year! Looking forward to see what August brings.
It was a pretty lazy Sunday but we did hit the park and of course played more Pokemon Go and some basketball.
This upcoming weekend, the plan is to head to Yosemite National park for a short backpacking trip! I'm so excited since I have never been, but will need to figure out how to add my 15 mile long run in. Here's hoping I will find a way to add it in.

That sums up my week! Linking this post up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.
Have a great week!
