A Hike In Mercer Meadows - Loop from Hunts House

Last Sunday we wanted to get outside for a hike. We didn't want to go far so we headed out by one of our favorite parks. The park I'm talking about is Rosedale Park, which is where I like to take the kiddos to play on the playground. It is about 15 minutes from our place. I had walked there with friends before, but have never taken the fam. The trails go right from the park, but I know if we were to park at Rosedale the kiddos will not want to leave the playground. To avoid that, we parked out by the Hunts house.

The Hunt House is a historic house that has been around since the 1760's. It is now the offices of the Mercer County Park Commission. I believe you can go inside and there are bathrooms if you need to use the facilities. If you look at the map below, the Hunt House is located at #1. The green section of the trail is part of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail (LHT) and is a pretty extensive trail system. Our plan was to hike up to Willow Pond then down to the pink trail through Mercer Meadows and do a loop back up to the Hunt House.
The trail is gravel in parts and also grass.
We found two geocaches along the way.
Pic of Willow Pond.
 The scenery is beautiful.
The trails are well marked.
The trail we followed took us across this bridge.
 And through open fields.
It was a great hike and we did about 2.8 miles according to my Runkeeper App. Here is the map or our route I took from the App.
The kiddos did great. This was a good hike close to home and a great one for some family outside time! It is also nice to know that there is lots more trail to explore on the LHT.
