Horsetail Falls Hike with the Fam

Horsetail Falls Hiking with the Fam
Last weekend we headed out to hike in the Sierras to Horsetail Falls which is south of Lake Tahoe. Hubby had it on his list of hikes to check out and figured this would be a good one to check out early especially because of all of the rain we had last winter. It was another great choice. The falls were beautiful!

5 Reasons to Go Camping at Ricketts Glen State Park

5 Reasons To Go Camping at Ricketts Glen State Park
It's been a couple of weeks since we went camping at Rickett's Glen State Park in Benton, PA. Seems we can't get enough of the place because we have been to the State Park the last couple of years. We have always used their modern cabins which are pretty nice. However when we checked to go camping 4th of July weekend, pretty much everything was booked. We were actually pretty lucky to even get the camp site we did (someone must have cancelled because the first time I checked there was nothing available)! This goes to show you that Rickett's Glen is a great place to visit.

Here are 5 reason to go camping at Rickett's Glen State Park:

Watkins Glen Gorge Trail Family Hike

Watkins Glen State Park
While in Corning for the Half Marathon, we planned on going to Watkins Glen State Park to hike. Hubby had heard great things about this park. I knew we were going to see waterfalls, but was not expecting much. We had been on the Ricketts Glen Falls Trail in Benton, PA and that hike was all about waterfalls. I thought I'd be seeing something similar to that but I was wrong. From the State Park website they say:"Watkins Glen State Park is the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks, with a reputation for leaving visitors spellbound." Let's just say I was definitely spellbound. :)

Mother's Day Hike: Ricketts Glen Falls Trail

Today is Mother's Day! The boys surprised me with cards and hugs and kisses. We had breakfast, and then walked to the Falls Trail trailhead from our cabin. A perk of staying in the cabin is that we are so close to the trail and can walk to the start.
