Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve Hiking Trip Report

We ventured to a new place on Sunday, the Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve. What's funny is that this trail is so close to where we live (about 13 minute drive) and only about 5 minutes from Nassau Street or Downtown Princeton. The Preserve is 75 acres and is part of The Friends of Princeton Open Space or FOPOS which encompasses 400 acres.

Why hike in the cold? We wanted to take advantage of the sunny day, it wasn't bad once we started hiking and the kiddos did not mind. Also looking back to a year ago, we had already started hiking and wanted to get the kiddos ready for hiking during Spring Break. Our plan is to explore Shenandoah National Park, so if any of you have ever been and have any suggestions, please let me know.

Asbury Park Half Marathon Training Week 1: 3/16-3/22

With last week's excitement of the NYC Half Marathon dying down, I've got the Asbury Park Half marathon next up on April 18th to think about and train for. With it less than a month away, I'm just going to go back to Hal Higdon's Intermediate training schedule and follow that as a guide for Asbury. I'm at week 9 and I've already made modifications. I took some rest days this week to recover from last Sunday's half and did not add any cross training but I still got some good runs in.

Here's a recap of last week's workouts:

2015 United Airlines NYC Half Marathon Race Recap

2015 NYC Half Marathon Race Recap
I ran the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon on Sunday, March 15th and what an amazing experience it was! I had been wanting to run in New York City for a while and was so happy when I got in through the lottery. Not only did I get in, but my twin sister, stayhealthynfit4you, also got in which made it even more awesome. She made the trip all the way from Portland, Oregon and we had a fun weekend in NYC. To get an idea of the fun activities we did in the City, you can check out her Weekend Update post here.

5 People I would Love to Workout with or Be Trained By

It's Tuesday and I am linking up with hosts Jessica Joy and Jill Conyers for their The Fit Dish Link-Up every Tuesday.
Today's topic is "5 people I would most like to workout with, and/or be trained by." This was a great topic as it made me think about all the awesome fitness trainers and athletes that are great at doing what they do and have influenced me in one way or another. It was not hard to think of 5 people as there are a bunch of people that inspire me and I would love to workout with or have them teach me a few things.

My #TakeTheLeap 30 day Yoga Challenge Experience

It was the end of January when I first wrote about the #TakeTheLeap yoga challenge put on by PrAna and Sweat Pink. You can check out the post here. I decided to participate and take the leap as it was one of my goals for 2015. Now the 30 days have passed and I wanted to share my thoughts on how it went.

MealEnders Review and Giveaway!

As a Sweatpink Ambassador I was given the opportunity to try MealEnders free of charge through Fit Approach. All opinions are my own.

I was pretty excited when I got MealEnders to review for the blog. I received them in the mail right about the time I made my 4 year old's Oreo ice cream cake, so it was perfect timing in regards to trying them out. I am a huge fan of sweets and this would be the test to see if it could help me resist eating the rest of the ice cream cake.

How I will Move Nourish Believe This Week

It's Tuesday and I am linking up with hosts Jessica Joy and Jill Conyers for their The Fit Dish Link-Up every Tuesday.
Today's topic is "A Photo Essay. How will you MOVE, NOURISH, BELIEVE this week?" Move, Nourish, Believe comes from Lorna Jane's philosophy that when you Move your body daily, Nourish your body both inside and out, and Believe anything is possible, you can commit to being the best version of yourself.
