Pony Express Half Marathon Training Week 2: 1/16-1/22

Week two of half marathon training went pretty good. I missed Monday's workout due to heading to Tahoe to snowboard but going to the mountain that day was definitely worth it! I got in the rest of my training workouts with no problems so I'm pretty happy with the week. However, since I missed my 3 mile run on Monday, I was unable to complete my goal of 80k for the lululemon 40|80 Strava challenge. I was 3K off and was tempted to run with 7 year old to get the last 2 miles but the weather deterred us. At least I got the 40K done!

Here's a recap of last week's workouts following Coach Dawn's plan:

Monday 1/16 -
Scheduled: Cross Train + 3 miles @ Recovery Pace
Actual: Snowboarded. It was my first time snowboarding in 8+ years (last time was before kids) and it was fun minus the falls. I'm not as brave as I was before but I had a good time.
Tuesday 1/17 -
Scheduled: Fartlek - w/u 10 min, 6x30-40 sec. at (7:45-8:00pace) w/ 2 min recoveries. c/d until 5-6miles
Actual: w/u 10 min, 6x35 sec at paces (7:30, 7:17, 7:22, 7:10, 7:01, 7:15) c/d until 6 miles
Wednesday 1/18 -
Scheduled: 4-5 miles @ recovery pace (10 min/mile or slower)
Actual: 5 miles @ recovery pace.
Thursday 1/19 -
Scheduled: Cross Train
Actual: Kamagon Ball workout. I did the Total Body and core workout from the DVD. I'm really enjoying working out with the Surge and Kamagon Ball and how they use Dynamic Fluid Resistance. I will have a blog post about the equipment coming soon!
Friday 1/20 -
Scheduled: 4 miles easy with 5 x strides
Actual: 4 miles easy with 5 x strides
Saturday 1/21 -

Actual: Rest
Sunday 1/22 -

This week I also received great news. I am a 2017 Nuun Ambassador for the second year and I am also a new member of Team Nuun. I've been drinking Nuun for a couple of years now and love the stuff. So excited to be an ambassador for a great company!
I also found out that I am a Lumo Run Ambassador for 2017. I am excited to see how I can improve my running form and will share all about it with you guys!
As to the weekend, it started with the kiddos basketball games on Saturday. One had their game in the morning, and the other in the afternoon. It's always fun watching their games.
However when I got home and saw the coverage of the Women's March (which we had considered going to in Sacramento) but didn't go due to the kid's games, I found it very moving. It was great to see so many people attend these marches all over the U.S and even other countries around the world. It made me wish we skipped the kiddos games and went ahead and marched in Sacramento since we could've been a part of history. It is so awesome that there are so many that do believe women's rights are human rights and are marching for what they believe in. I do hope that we can continue to work together because we are going to need to after seeing what has been going on at the White House these last few days.
Sunday started out with my long run. The first 4 miles were with a friend and the last 4 solo. At least for me, running with friends however long is always so much better than running alone.
The rest of the day was spent doing errands and due to the rainy weather, just hanging out watching football. That pretty much sums up my week! Linking this post up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.
Have a great week!
