Acute Bronchitis and the Davis Stampede Half Marathon

Happy Friday! So for those that follow me on Twitter and Instagram and wondering why I haven't been posting as much as I usually do, well it turns out that I have acute bronchitis. I was trying to give myself a rest. It started last week and I thought I was getting better but it never seemed to go away. My coughing got worse and it was hard for me to get a good night's sleep so I went in today to the Doc to find out what was up.

I pretty much self diagnosed myself online prior to going to the Doctor's office. I had a feeling it was acute bronchitis and he confirmed my suspicions this morning. He recommended I rest and that I take the regular over the counter medications for congestion and cough. To help clear my lungs, he recommended I get an inhaler especially if I was going to run in Sunday's Davis Stampede.
I told him about the half marathon I've been training for on Sunday and he did not say it wasn't possible but that if I needed to stop and wasn't breathing correctly to stop. He pretty much told me to prepare for not finishing. With what he said, and thinking I do not want to push it too much, I am thinking I may just downgrade to the 10K for Sunday's race. So we will see. I think I have until tomorrow to decide. There will be no time goals, just to have a good run and to finish!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Have you had to downgrade to a lower distance for a race?
What do you do when you are sick and want to run?
