Week after the Chicago Marathon & Weekly Wrap 10/10-10/16

Last week went by pretty fast and I'm glad it did because I took the week off  of running (well almost a full week, 6 days) to recover and it has been hard not to run. If you missed my Chicago Marathon recap, you can check it out here. I did get in a bunch of walking which I think also helped with recovery but I was itching to run again. I ran for the first time yesterday and it felt great.

Here's what last week looked like:

Monday 10/10 - Rest
Tuesday 10/11 - Rest
Wednesday 10/12- Rest
Thursday 10/13 - Rest
Friday 10/14 - Rest
Saturday 10/15 - Rest
Sunday 10/16 - 5 mile run

Monday was me and my sister's last day in Chicago and we made the most of our time there before leaving back home. We started out with breakfast at Wildberry Pancakes & Cafe. So yummy! We got there around 7am which was perfect because there was no line.
I got the Denver Skillet with pancakes and it was delicious!
After breakfast we walked over to Willis Tower (formerly called Sears Tower) to check out the skydeck.
The skydeck was scarier than I thought it would be and I had a hard time looking down!
We did get awesome views of Chicago at the top.
After checking out of our hotel, we had to make one more stop to try out Giordano's deep dish pizza. We ordered the Special that had sausage, mushrooms, green peppers and onions. It was the best deep dish pizza I've ever tried. So so good and definitely recommend. Really loved the crust too.
So Monday was the highlight of the week being out of town and all but it was really nice to get back home that night. It was really nice to be back home with Hubby and the kiddos. Then it was back to the usual grind of taking the kiddos to school, soccer practices, volunteering at their school, cleaning, and groceries. I did a lot of walking on my rest days.

The weekend started off with soccer on Saturday. Both kiddos had their games and they were fun to watch.
Sunday morning, I was happy to get my first run in since the marathon. I just couldn't wait another day and I got a good 5 miles. Felt really good to run again.
Seven year old had another soccer game on Sunday. It was fun to watch until it started raining. He got to play 3 out of the 4 mini games before soccer was cancelled.
Later in the afternoon, got to celebrate a friend's birthday at our place. It was great having the kids play and the mom's drank mimosas. It was so much fun just hanging out and celebrating!
That pretty much sums up my week. Linking this post up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.

So my next race is next month, the Rock'n' Roll Las Vegas Remix Challenge, the 5K and half marathon. I am very excited. Will I see any of you there??

Have a great week!
