Asbury Park Half Marathon Training Week 3: 3/30-4/5

Here's a recap of last week's workouts:

Monday 3/30 - Rest day
Tuesday 3/31 - 5 mile run.
Wednesday 4/1 - 7.48 miles with friends. It was fun exploring a new route at Mercer County Park.
Thursday 4/2 - With my 4 year old starting his Spring Break early, I got in T25 Alpha Total Body Circuit at home.
Friday 4/3 - Rest day. The MOMs club I belong to had it's annual Easter Egg hunt and both kiddos were officially on Spring Break. They had a great time.
Saturday 4/4 - 5 mile run.
Sunday 4/5 - 11 mile long run.
I'd say this week was ok training wise for the Asbury Park Half Marathon. It is just a couple weeks away now. I wasn't feeling so great earlier in the week which is why I took an extra day of rest and I think it helped a lot.

Aside from running, the weekend was pretty good. On Saturday my 5 year old had his first soccer game. It was fun watching him play and I'm so happy that he has clearly gotten more aggressive in running after the ball compared to last year, he even scored two goals. :)
Not much else happened on Saturday as Hubby hurt his calf muscle on Friday while playing basketball at the gym. We are trying to have him rest it for our trip to Shenandoah National Park where we are planning lots of hikes with the kiddos. We spent the rest of the day relaxing and watching both NCAA Tournament games on tv.

On Sunday, we had our yearly Easter egg hunt at our home and the kiddos enjoyed their Easter treats. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter.
As you read this post, we will be heading to Virginia to visit Shenandoah National Park. Wish the weather was going to be better but the trip was booked in advance for the kiddos Spring Break. Looking forward to sharing our journey with you next week.

Linking this post up with Tara at Running N’ Reading for her Weekend Update. Have a great week all!

  2. Aww, this reminds me of when my little brother started playing soccer; we used to load up every Saturday and go to his games and those little boys are so cute out there! I'm so glad you had a great weekend; hope your hubby is feeling better and that y'all have a fantastic trip! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Hi from Weekend Update! I'm new to your blog and feel like I've found a kindred spirit. :) I also have two boys (ages 1 and 3), love to run/hike/etc. and we actually also belong to our local MOMS Club, so I enjoyed that mention. :) My kiddos are still a little small for hiking, but we plan to take them out a bit this summer...my oldest will be 4 by then, and the youngest can sit in the hiking backpack. I can't wait until they can really do the trails with us though! My husband and I did a lot of hiking in the Adirondacks before they were born.

Anyway--good luck with the rest of your training! Impressed that you can train for a half in so few weeks...I am not quite at that level yet. ;)

  10. Thanks Tara! Soccer is pretty fun to watch! Hubby is feeling better as we've been having a blast so far while at Shenandoah National Park. There are so many cool hikes, it's going to be hard for the kiddos to head back home tomorrow.

  11. Ah thanks for dropping by Kelly! Sorry just getting back to you now as I'm still away for Spring Break in Virginia by Shenandoah National Park and finally have time to reply back. So great that you enjoy the outdoors as much as we do and you are taking your kids hiking. We started with the hiking backpack as well and now that the kids are 5 and 4, they are good walking on their own. Just make sure you bring snacks and maybe a treat to get them going.

Thanks about the training, I actually didn't train in few weeks, I reset the weeks after I did the NYC Half last month. :) Hope you are having a great week!

  12. Thanks Marcia! The weather is definitely unpredictable. We've been having a great time at Shenandoah NP until today when it started out cloudy, got sunny, then clouded over again, then rained. Hope you are having a great week!
