American River Parkway Half Marathon Training Week 14: 4/10-4/16

Week 14 is peak week of training according to my coach and it went great! Got in all my running workouts in and did fairly well. I pretty much hit all my paces except for the speed workout on Tuesday. I am trying my best and that's what matters. Less than two weeks before my goal half marathon!

Here's a recap of last week's workouts following Coach Dawn's plan:

Monday 4/10 -
Scheduled: Active Recovery - Or 3-4 @ recovery pace
Actual: Rest day
Tuesday 4/11 -
Scheduled: 10 min w/u, then 5x4 minutes @ 7:45-50 w/ 90 sec recovery, 10-15 min c/d
Actual: 10 min w/u then 5x4 minutes w/ 90 sec recovery, 15 min c/d. Those 4 minutes at 7:45-50 are hard! I got them in at (7:46,7:46,8:02,8:04,7:55). I didn't hit them the last 3 but I'm at least glad I was below 8 on the last one. Total of 5.8 miles!
Wednesday 4/12 -

Actual: 4 miles @ recovery pace
Thursday 4/13 -

Actual: 5 miles at recovery pace with a friend.
Friday 4/14 -
Scheduled: 1.5 miles easy, then 8 miles @ 8:35-45. Mix in 4 strides throughout. Walk to c/d.
Actual: 1.5 miles easy, splits for the 8 miles were (8:37, 8:35, 8:34, 8:35, 8:35, 8:35, 8:33, & 8:31)! It wasn't easy but I finished strong!
Saturday 4/15 -
Scheduled: Rest
Actual: Rest
Sunday 4/16 -
Scheduled: 10 miles easy, then 2 miles at 8:15-30
Actual: 10 miles easy, then 2 miles at 8:11 and 8:10! The run started out not so great but after a while it got better. It was also great running with awesome company!

As to the weekend, the kiddos had their soccer games on Friday. Both did awesome!
On Saturday, we headed to Calaveras Big Trees State Park to check out the Sequoia trees. All I have to say is they are amazing trees. They are so big! I'm behind on a lot of my blog posts but I will surely have a recap of our adventure to the park once I get done with the other posts.
On Sunday after my long run, the kiddos had their Easter egg hunt.
We also got them outside for some neighborhood soccer before the rain came. With rain the rest of the day, it was nice to just hang out and relax at home.
That pretty much sums up my week! Linking this post up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.
Have a great week!
