Last Week's Workouts and Weekend Update 6/22-6/28

Here's a recap of last week's workouts:

Monday 6/22 - 4 mile run.
Tuesday 6/23 - T25 Alpha Speed 1.0.
Wednesday 6/24 - 1.7 mile run while the kiddos played at the playground.
Thursday 6/25 - T25 Alpha Total Body Workout.
Friday 6/26 - 2 mile run while the kiddos biked or scootered.
Saturday 6/27 - 3 mile run/walk with my 6 year old. He wanted to run 3 miles but it was cut short when he tripped and fell scraping his knee up at almost 2 miles. We ended up walking back home but I was proud of him for trying and he was so strong walking back.
Sunday 6/28 - 6 mile run.
This week Hubby was away for most of it for work. So with him gone and the kiddos out of school it was tough for me to get some runs in. I took it a bit easier this week. I did do a couple of T25 workouts and got some runs in with the kiddos. :) It was a lesser mileage week but I'm ok with that.

As to the weekend, Saturday morning started with the 3 miles with my 6 year old. The rest of the day was spent hanging out at home. We initially planned to go camping with some friends but it was cancelled due to the rain. Boo rain! It was a bummer because we all were looking forward to breaking out the tent and spending the night outdoors. Hopefully we'll get to go camping sometime soon. We did cheer ourselves up with some sushi for dinner.
Sunday I got a 6 mile run in. It was hot out as I started later than I was planning, but running on the trail always makes it more bearable. The scenery is great!
After a quick lunch, the fam went on a new hike for this week's challenge for #hike2015 with @mtnmamatales and @hikelikeawoman. We ventured to the Fiddler's Creek trail by Baldpate Mountain.
The hike was actually cut short due to something getting into our 4 year old's eye. There was lots of crying involved so we rushed back home to rinse his eye out. He was ok, it turned out to be a little black speck which may have been from a little bug that flew into his eye. We aren't quite sure, but whatever it was we got it out and 4 year old is much better. After that ordeal it was close to dinner so we headed out to get some pizza.
Then some yummy ice cream at the Bent Spoon in Princeton. We all love their mango flavor!
That sums up the weekend! Linking this post up with Tara at Running N’ Reading for her Weekend Update.

  1. Sorry your camping trip was cancelled but it looks like a fun week anyway. Glad the thing in the eye did not scratch his cornea. That is no fun. Have a great week!

  2. So glad to see that your son's eyeball ordeal ended with pizza and ice cream! When we ran the Camp Pendleton Mud Run a few weeks back, I had my first ever trip to a medical tent so that I could have them rinse my eye out. I couldn't even open...so I will tell you...I felt his pain #notfun! You did a great job of still getting in lots of workouts even while on full-time-by-yourself kid duty. Your running and hiking trails are beautiful! Have a great week Sharon!

  3. Thanks Diane! Sorry to hear about your trip to the medical tent. Anything in your eye is no fun. It was very hard to see my 4 year cry so much, I'm just glad we got it out and that he's ok now.

  8. One of your pictures looks just like the running path in my neighborhood park. I had to do a double take! It's good to have a week with lesser mileage. It's how we recharge. I want to try mango ice cream!

  15. Looks like good week of workouts and eats. That sushi platter looked good..and I wouldn't eat all those things (I am prob what you call a beginner sushi eater - cali rolls, tempura haha).

  16. Ah, I was like that before too, but have you tried the raw stuff? Once I tried it and found the ones I liked, I was hooked. :)

  17. Ughhh a bug in the eye! I mean, as runners we come across bugs all the time which is gross. But for a 4 year old to get one in the eye, poor kid! That's a story that I'm sure will live forever... :)

  18. Yeah he was crying like crazy. We are so glad he is ok and it wasn't something serious.

  19. Looks like a great week and weekend! The sushi looks good! That's too bad your hike was cut short but looks like a nice place with lots of greenery.

  21. Yes, your scenery definitely is GREAT! You had a really great workout week, looks like some great runs in!
Bug's in the eye are the worst! I think even worse than accidently swallowing one, because in the eye they can get broken up and really irritate, glad you got it all out okay, poor guy!
