2015 Year in Running Review

Happy New Year! 2015 has been a great year! I had a goal of running 907 miles, 100 more than 2014. According to my Smashrun stats I made it to 1,081 miles this year! I was surprised to see that I made it over 1000 miles because I did not even think I would do that this year. Let's just say it was pretty cool to see those stats! Let's take a look back and see the races I did to help get those miles.

In 2015 I ran a total of 8 races.
I ran:
5 half marathons
110K
2 5Ks

I ran in 4 states:
New Jersey
New York
Massachusetts
California

My first run of the year was the NYC Half Marathon in March. I was so excited to get in by lottery and not just me but my twin sister and my friend Minyee also got in. It was so cool to finally check off running in New York City off of my bucket list. If I had to pick a favorite of the year, this would probably be it because of the rush and excitement while running through Times Square. It was amazing! Just thinking about it makes me smile. I remember running through it, I got a bit emotional because I thought it was such an awesome experience to be in the big CITY running what is usually one of the most busiest streets in the country and that it was closed just for us runners!
A little over a month later would be my second run, the Asbury Park Half Marathon in Asbury Park, NJ. This race was probably my worst race of the year, just because I was not prepared for the heat. I remember that I did not hydrate well for this race. It was still fun because I got to run with some good running friends and it was neat running by the Jersey shore.
In early May I had my first 5K of the year, The Big Red Race, in Lawrencville, NJ. I ran a good run and even placed 2nd in my AG!
The end of May we traveled to Boston for the Boston's Run to Remember Half Marathon. I knew we may not be on the East Coast much longer and wanted to get a run in Boston before we left, so I chose this half. It was a great short family vacation and also a great run in Boston. I loved the medal!
From June - August, no races were on my calendar and I kept on running with my MRTT friends throughout the summer. We trained for our fall races. My next race was in September. I did Beat The Blerch in Morristown, NJ. It was a tough trail run but still fun. I got to meet Mathew Inman of the Oatmeal and also took pics with some blerches.
Next up was my last half marathon of the year, the Brooklyn Rock n Roll Half in October. Despite it being a little unorganized it was my fastest half marathon of the year, and I was short of a PR by 5 seconds.
My last race in New Jersey before our big move to California was the Trenton 10K. I had run in Trenton the last 3 years and found it fitting to end my stay by running it again for my 4th year. It was literally our last day in NJ and found it funny that some friends thought I was crazy to run a race the morning we flew out. It turned out to be an awesome run as I PR'd in the 10K and placed 3rd in my age group! It was the best way to end our stay in NJ.
My last race of the year was a fun one! It was the Sacramento Santa Run 5K. It was my kiddos first 5K and both of them did awesome! They make me so proud!
That's my year of running in review! I'm very happy with how the year turned out and I am excited to see what 2016 brings. I've already got quite a bit of races scheduled for next year and I'm also hoping to complete my first full marathon!

I’m linking up with Running With SD Mom and Weight Off My Shoulders for their Running Year in Review link up.

What are your plans for 2016?
