CIM Marathon Training Week 6 & Weekly Wrap: 8/28-9/3

Week 6 of marathon training is a wrap! It's been another good week of running and workouts. We even got in a fun hike to Sierra Buttes this weekend before soccer officially starts up again for the boys next Saturday. 

Here's a recap of what I did last week following Coach Dawn's plan:

Monday 8/28 - 
Scheduled: 3 miles recovery pace
Actual: 3 miles recovery pace with a friend plus an arm and core workout with friends later in the morning. 
Tuesday 8/29 -
Scheduled: Rest day
Actual: Rest day
Wednesday 8/30 -
Scheduled: 7 x 45 seconds hard/ 2:15 easy recovery, 1.5 mile warm up and cool down. Plus optional core or upper body workout.
Actual: 1.5 mile w/u, 7x45 seconds hard with 2:15 recovery, 1.5 mile c/d for total of 5.36 miles. Also got in a core/upper body workout with friends on the courts.
Thursday 8/31 -
Scheduled: Comfortable, easy 4-5 miles
Actual: Comfortable 5 miles.
Friday 9/1 -
Easy 1 mile (9:45 + )
1 mile 9:20-30
1 mile 9:10-20
2 min easy
1 mile 9:00-9:10
** Do 4 x strides after the first mile, and keep pace same in between

Ended up with 
Mile 1 - 9:55
Mile 2 - 8:47 due to the 4 strides
Mile 3 - 9:00 
Mile 4 - 8:59

So we ended up going a bit faster in the third mile but it was hard to slow down. 
As far as miles for August, I ended up with 113. It was a great month considering I missed a long run while in Lassen. Here's to September and marathon training in full effect!

Saturday 9/2 -
Scheduled: Rest day or XT
Actual: Moved up my long run of 12-13 miles due to a hike on Sunday with the fam. I ended up doing 13 miles. It was a good run but legs were definitely tired in the last couple of miles.
Sunday 9/3 -
Scheduled: Easy 12-13
Actual: Running rest day. Got in a hike with the fam at Sierre Buttes.

Most of the weekend was spent either doing errands or relaxing. However the highlight of the weekend was Sunday when we went to hike up the Sierra Buttes Fire Lookout. It was another good hike with beautiful views. Here are a few pics. I'm still very behind on my hiking posts but I will definitely have a recap up of this hike on the blog at some point. :)
