CIM Marathon Training Week 8 & Weekly Wrap: 9/11-9/17

Week 8 of CIM marathon training is done and went well! I got in all my running workouts along with some good cross training workouts with friends. I really think that the cross training (arms, core & sometimes leg work) I've been doing is helping me get faster. 

Here's a recap of what I did last week following Coach Dawn's plan:

Monday 9/11 -
Scheduled: 4 miles recovery pace
Actual: 4 miles recovery pace
Tuesday 9/12 -
Scheduled: Rest
Actual: Rest
Wednesday 9/13 -
Scheduled: 10 minutes easy, 20 minute tempo- 8:30-45, 10 minutes easy 
Actual: 10 minutes easy, 20 minute tempo with paces at (8:27, 8:28, and .37 @ 8:24), 10 min easy for total of 4.48 miles with average pace of 8:56. I also got in a good workout with the girls on the courts later in the morning.
Thursday 9/14 -
Scheduled: Easy 4
Actual: Easy 4 with a friend.
Friday 9/15 -
Scheduled: 1.5 miles easy, 6 x 50 seconds fast/2:30 easy, 1.5 miles easy
Actual: 1.5 miles easy, 6x50 seconds fast/ 2:30 easy. Paces for the 50 sec. were (6:54, 6:38, 6:37, 6:27, 6:33, & 6:28) so I'm happy especially because I held my paces. Also got in a cross training workout with the girls on the courts later in the morning. 
Saturday 9/16 -
Scheduled: 14 easy
Actual: 14 easy with the last mile fast. My friend Elizabeth wanted to go faster and we ended up going 8:28 pace the last mile!
Sunday 9/17 -
Scheduled: Rest or XT
Actual: Rest

The weekend was good. I got my long run in on Saturday. It was a great run with my friend Elizabeth and we had to start early so I could get to the boys soccer games. 
My mother-in-law and her boyfriend were in town visiting so everyone was excited to see them. We all went to the kiddos soccer games. 6 year old had his first soccer game since he is on a club team and 8 year old is doing AYSO that started last week. The games are always fun to watch.
Later we explored the town of Winters a bit and ate Dinner at the Putah Creek Cafe. It was a good time!
Sunday Hubby's mom and boyfriend left and we spent the rest of the day doing errands. In the evening we went over to a friends house and enjoyed hanging out.
We even sang some karaoke (which I'm horrible at) but with a few drinks all is well. :)
 
It was so much fun!
