Chimney Rock Trail Point Reyes National Seashore 8/5/17

Chimney Rock Trail Point Reyes National Seashore hike
After our short hike to the Point Reyes Lighthouse, we decided to check out the Chimney Rock Trail. It is only about a 6 minute drive from the Lighthouse parking area to the Chimney Rock trailhead. It was neat trail to check out and we were happy that it wasn't as foggy as at the lighthouse and we got to see more of the ocean and nearby cliffs.

The parking area is not huge however we were lucky to get a spot no problem, probably because it was already late afternoon and a cloudy day. There is a restroom near the parking area.

Except for one steepish hill, the hike is fairly flat. 8 year old ran a lot of it.

It was neat to see the bluffs and the ocean below.

The end of the hike takes you out to this neat viewing area.

It's a great place to just stare out to sea.

It was neat to see some sea lions hanging out down below.

Here's a fun shot with me and the boys.
The landscape is beautiful. If only it were sunny.

The fam decided to run back. Normally, I'm all in but I knew I had a long run the next day so I didn't push it.

The hike is almost 2 miles round trip according to my Garmin.
Overall, it's a great short hike with cool bluffs and ocean views. I definitely recommend it if you have time. It isn't far from the Point Reyes Lighthouse so it makes for another easy hike if you are looking to do more. I'll leave you with a video of our fun adventure. :)

Happy hiking!
