Chicago Marathon Training Week 9: 8/15-8/21

It's been a great week away in the Pacific Northwest. Not only did we stay in the Seattle area but we also headed south to Oregon to visit my sister. It wasn't a planned trip but when her son fractured his arm, we ended up going there instead of him staying in Seattle. It all worked out fine and it was great to see their new place. I got in all of my running workouts in too which was great. I also got to run my 18 mile long run with my sister and it went really well.

What a weekend! It's been so great running with my sister. It is always so much fun and she is great company! On Saturday, we ran 5 miles in the morning before we headed out to Kayak Point for a bbq picnic with the whole fam.
The kids had a blast playing in the water with their cousins.
My 7 year old did not want to get off this raft.
Sunday morning started out with our 18 mile long run. It was so great to run it with my sister as she is great company and the miles flew by fast. I can't believe we ran from Log Boom Park all the way to U-Village. So cool and so far!
It was pretty perfect that we ran our 18 miler and then headed off to Ivar's Salmon House for brunch with the whole fam to celebrate my parent's 45th wedding Anniversary. Ivar's Salmon house has an awesome all you can eat brunch. And for sure I took advantage of it. :) There were so many yummy food choices! Below is a pic of my parents with all of their grandkids.
Family pic.
After brunch we headed to Gas Works Park to take some family photos and to enjoy the views.
After Gas Works Park, we headed to the Seattle Center to check out the new Artists at Play playground. It is an awesome playground for kids and the boys both had a blast there.
We also checked out the fountain. The boys really wished we brought their swim suits so they could play in the fountain but unfortunately we weren't prepared but said that is something we could do next time we visit.
We then headed down to Pike Place Market to browse. We bought a cool bouquet of flowers for my parents and visited the gum wall.
After the market, we headed down to the waterfront and walked around a bit. Below is the Great Wheel. It was cool watching the ferry go by too. Afterwards, we caught up with some friends in Bellevue.
Our trip to Seattle ended up pretty awesome. We got to see everyone we wanted to see. We went on two hikes, visited my sister in Oregon, I kept up with my running workouts, and spent quality time with my parents, brothers and sis. I'm already looking forward to our trip back for the holidays in December!
That sums up my week! Linking this post up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.
Have a great week!
