Eagle Rock Hike at Lake Tahoe

Eagle Rock Hike at Lake Tahoe
A friend invited us out to Lake Tahoe for a day trip that included a hike and of course I was up for it. She had actually heard about this hike from another blogger friend of hers, Hither and Thither. We hiked the Eagle Rock trail and it turned out to be the perfect short hike with amazing views.

The hike is about 2 hours and 15 minutes from Davis located past Tahoe City off of Highway 89 heading south. The parking area is small. We went on a Thursday mid-June and barely got a spot. At the trailhead is this kiosk. There are no bathrooms.

Here is a map of the trails. We took the most direct route to Eagle Rock.

It is a very short hike with about 281 feet elevation gain.
Heading up to Eagle Rock
There is a trail but of course the kids like to take the route where they can climb rocks. :p

Once we got to this rocky party you can easily lose the main trail as there are multiple ways to get to the view point.

Check out the view. It was so pretty up there. You get an amazing 360 degree view.

It's a great lunch spot, or for us a snack spot.

To get to the top took about 20 minutes or so. The whole hike was about 1 mile round trip so it is a perfect hike for families with kids. Heading back down was a breeze.

If you are ever visiting Lake Tahoe I highly recommend this hike. It is short, easy and well worth the visit with the amazing views you get at the top. Lake Tahoe is a beautiful area and visiting Eagle Rock will give you an amazing view of the lake and the surrounding mountains.

Happy hiking!
