Boston's Run To Remember Half Marathon Training Week 4: 5/11-5/17

Here's a recap of last week's workouts:

Monday 5/11 - PiYo Sweat
Tuesday 5/12 - 5 mile run
Wednesday 5/13 - Warm up jog, 10x400's at 5K pace, and cool down jog
Thursday 5/14 - 3 miles with a friend
Friday 5/15 - 2.5 mile walk with my 4 year old.
Saturday 5/16 - Rest
Sunday 5/17 - 12 mile long run
It was a decent week of workouts, I got most everything in but some strength training. I have been really slacking in that department and need to work on that. However, there is not much more I can do as I will be in taper this week. I can't believe the Boston Run to Remember half is on Sunday! I'm really looking forward to it! This will be my last half marathon until the fall. I only have the Brooklyn Rock and Roll Half marathon lined up in October, but I'm hoping to add a few more races.

My goal for the Boston Run to Remember is to get under two hours. I'm not aiming to PR but if I happen to have a good running day I will shoot for it. From the way things have been going training-wise, I'm not going to expect much. I am planning on enjoying running the streets of Boston and to have a good time.

On to the weekend, it actually started Friday night. I got to hang out with some great ladies at a friend's house. It was night of drinks and some yummy snacks and deserts. It was a fun time!
On Saturday, the morning started with the kiddo's sports. Soccer for the 5 year old and then T-ball for both (soccer for 4 year old was canceled prematurely for rain, I say prematurely because it ended up not raining).
After T-ball we headed to the town of Pennington for their Pennington Day, which is a festival for the community of Pennington that consist of booths, artists, and food vendors in the area and surrounding communities. It was a lot of fun walking up and down the streets.
There were lots of games that the kiddos could play. They had a lot of fun trying out new games and they really liked spinning the wheel for a prize!
On Sunday after my long run, we headed to Washington Crossing State Park where Hubby started his history tour for the fam. He is a history buff. It was a day filled with visiting historic landmarks in our area like where George Washington crossed the Delaware river and then various places he took his troops from Trenton to Princeton. It is pretty neat that all of this so close to our home. I will most likely have a blog post of the tour up soon.
That sums up the weekend! Linking this post up with Tara at Running N’ Reading for her Weekend Update. Have a great week all!

  5. What a great weekend and a wonderful training week, Sharon. I know the feeling of hitting a goal that you're not sure of; I've set the bar pretty high for myself this year (a half in December that I'd like to finish in two hours), so I hope things go well for you. And, if not, I love your attitude! Enjoy the streets of Boston for me; I've never been there! Thanks so much for linking up today; hope your Monday is going well.

  6. I love history, I love finding little places like that to visit too!
Each time I see your weekly running post pics, you make me realize I was so wrong about New Jersey. I used to think it was all beach and city, but apparently I have to say you have corrected my thinking. I am looking forward to when I finally visit your state for a race, it looks beautiful, I see a lot of hiking in my future when I get there:)
