5 Things to Love About Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls
It wasn't too long ago that the fam visited Niagara Falls. It was on my bucket list of things to do before we moved and I am so glad that I got to cross it off my list. It was a great place to see.

Here are five things that I loved about visiting the Falls:

1) It's massive & beautiful!. Niagara Falls is huge! It really was pretty amazing to see! The falls are actually a total of 3 waterfalls: American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls. Looking at the pic below; American Falls is far left, Bridal Veil Falls is in the middle (A little Island named Luna Island separates American and Bridal Veil Falls) and is the smallest of the falls, while Horseshoe Falls is far right and is the largest of the falls. My pics don't demonstrate how amazing the falls really are in person but you can get a good idea of the beauty.

2) You can view it from both the US & Canadian side. I really enjoyed seeing both sides of the falls. On the U.S side there are lots of activities you can do if you check out the Niagara Falls State Park website. You can get a Discovery Pass or hand pick the attraction you want to see. We ended up doing only Maid of the Mist and were happy with that as we had the Canadian side to still visit. If you do choose to visit Canada, make sure you have your passport or proper identification for you and your kids. We had no problems with passports for us and birth certificates for the kiddos. On the Canadian side, it was really nice walking through Queen Victoria Park where you can get the awesome views of the falls. The views on the Canadian side are much better because you see all 3 falls easier without any obstructing views.

3) You can take a boat ride that takes you to see all 3 falls up close. On the U.S side you ride the Maid of the Mist and it was quite the experience.

You are provided with ponchos and let's just say the ride did not disappoint.
My 6 year old loved the experience, however 4 year old not so much (he did not like when the mist sprayed him directly in the face). I had a blast and could not believe how close we got to Horseshoe Falls. There was a point where I just could not see a darn thing and thought wow, this is crazy. The falls are massive and roaring! You can also ride a boat on the Canadian side, it's called the Hornblower. It looks like it takes you on a similar ride with great views of all falls.

4) You will get wet. This is probably only fun in the summer when it is hot. The kiddos loved getting hit by the mist of the falls, especially when we were on Luna Island and between American and Bridal Veil Falls. I loved their reactions. Their smiles are priceless.

5) On sunny days you will see rainbows. I don't know what it is, but whenever I see a rainbow it makes me happy. So when I see all these rainbows in one day I am just amazed and in awe.

Niagara Falls was just as I expected and I'm so glad I got to visit. You know the falls are something huge when you can see the mist from the car, miles before you even enter the park. They are a great attraction that I will never forget.
