TBT Hiking Post - Olympic Peninsula Day 1: Hurricane Ridge & Rialto Beach

Happy Thursday! Today's throwback Thursday post takes us back to our trip to the Olympic Peninsula. We decided to head out there for our wedding Anniversary as a getaway and nice little adventure. Here are pics from day 1 of our trip.

Olympic Peninsula - Hurricane Ridge and Rialto Beach 8/23/09

To get to the Olympic Peninsula we had to take the ferry. We took the Edmonds-Kingston ferry. It was our son's first time on the ferry and he enjoyed it. Here's a great shot I took of him with Hubby.

From the ferry, we headed straight to Hurricane Ridge which is part of the Olympic National Park. Our son saw his first bit of wildlife on this trip. We came across a bunch of deer. Here is our first sighting from the car heading up to Hurricane Ridge.

Hurricane Ridge has quite the visitor center. Easy to see once you arrive at the parking lot. This view is from one of the trails. Check out the mountains. There are amazing views all around us.

At Hurricane Ridge we hiked on a few of their short trails.

Here we are really close to a young deer. I was so surprised at how close we were and that the fawn did not run off.

After hiking, we headed to the coast to Rialto Beach. Loved this beach. So many great picture taking opportunities!

It was a fun filled day! Both Hurricane Ridge and Rialto Beach are places we would love to go back to especially to take both kiddos.

  3. This place is on my bucket list. I few years ago I was near the area and I don't know why we didn't take a day and head over here, I have kicked myself in the butt ever since for not doing it. But I will get back there. Love your pics, so beautiful!!!

  8. I love the pic of your husband and the kiddo (the lighting is really nice), and the one of you hiking up the hill with the baby carrier :) The last trio of pics remind me of ones my friends would post when she is in Oregon. Its what I imagine when I think of the PNW seaside.
