Happy National Running Day!

Happy National Running Day!

National running day, held annually on the first Wednesday in June, is a day when runners everywhere declare their passion for running.
Running definitely makes me feel better. Today I woke up with a headache. Even after dropping off my preschooler off at school it was still there. When I got to the gym it was still there. I wasn't sure how my run would be at the gym. I knew I wanted to celebrate National Running day and I needed to run for my 1/2 marathon in Seattle, so even with the headache I did my 45 minute tempo training run. However, after my run on the treadmill, there was no sign of it. Running actually made it go away. :)

I started with a 10 minute warm-up and did 25 minutes of hard running, then a 10 minute cool-down run. I'm not sure when my headache went away, but I was feeling pretty good running considering I wasn't feeling well the last couple of days.
Running has done so much for me. Not only does it make me feel better but it has made me a stronger, healthier, happier person. It has challenged and pushed me, and makes me feel great!

Again, Happy National Running Day! Here's to taking strides toward leading healthier, fitter lives.

Did you run today? Why do you run?
