Bushkill Falls Family Hike

Welcome to Bushkill Falls
Last Sunday, we headed to Bushkill Falls to check out their waterfalls. Located in the Pocono Mountains, Bushkill Falls is a series of eight waterfalls. There is a fee to get in, which I'm not fond of as it's pretty pricey. Adults are $12.50/day, seniors (ages 62 and older) are $11.50/day, children (ages 4 through 10) are $7/day, and children (ages 3 and younger) are free.

There were a lot of people when we arrived at the parking lot just before noon, we weren't sure we would find parking but they do have a huge lot, so it wasn't too hard after driving up more. We had packed our lunches and saw that there were picnic tables, so we just ate our lunch before heading to the Falls (they discourage picnicking once inside). There is lots to do before even entering the Falls area. There are paddle boats, miniature golf, mining for gemstones, and even a maze. With all there is a fee, so we just stuck with going to see the falls this time. There is also a children's playground where the kids played a little bit right after lunch, as they just have to try out every playground it seems. ;)

Before entering the Falls, there is a wildlife exhibit you go through that has animals that are from the surrounding areas.

The cool thing about Bushkill Falls is that there are trails for everyone. You can make it short or as long as you want and you can pick between the four trails. They are color coded. We chose the Red trail as it takes you to see all eight waterfalls.

There were lots of opportunities for cool pics. I couldn't stop taking pictures! :p

The boys loved the parts of the trail that were down by the creek. They liked to look into the water, throw rocks, and go from one rock to another.

I really enjoyed the wooden bridges and wooden walkways.

The steps made for a nice workout.

The only thing I could complain about were the crowds. At the main parts, there were just too many people. I suggest going on a week day if you want to avoid the crowds. You can also avoid crowds if you take the red trail as it takes you out further and we noticed a lot less people.

Can't forget the falls. They are nice!

Overall, Bushkill Falls is a great place! It's outdoors, you get to hike to cool waterfalls and it is family friendly. My kids favorite part was exploring the creek areas. They loved hanging out by the water area and I just loved that we were outside, enjoying nature, and watching my kids have fun. :)
