TBT Hiking Post - Climbing Mt. St. Helens

Happy Thursday! Today's Throwback Thursday post is of a trip we took with friends to climb Mt. St. Helens. We never did a formal post so this post will mainly be of our favorite pics during that trip. I really enjoyed this one because we went with really good friends and had a great time hiking together.

Mt. St. Helens 6/21/08

We started real early in the morning. It was dark so we hiked with our headlamps.
Once daylight set in, we got to see some great views. Here is Mt. Hood in the distance.
Mt. St. Helens is not a technical climb as there are no crevasses and we did not need to rope up. However, we did bring our ice axes because there were some very steep sections on the hike up towards the top.
Rest break.
Here you can get an idea of how steep it was once we were getting higher and closer to the crater rim.
Made it to the crater rim.

The funnest part was going down. We glissaded down which is sliding down the mountain on our butts. :) We used our ice axes to help with braking. It was a lot of fun!
 Fun times.
Here we are back on solid ground and on our way back to the trail head.
Climbing Mt. St. Helens was an awesome experience! It was great sharing this experience with good friends. It's an experience I won't ever forget.
