NYC Half Marathon Training Week 1: 12/22-12/28

Hope everyone had a good Christmas! I'm still in Seattle but will be heading back to the East Coast soon. It's been fun hanging out with my family and seeing some good friends I haven't seen in a long while.

Looking at the calendar I did not realize it until the end of this week that this week starts week one training for the NYC Half Marathon in March. I will be sort of following Hal Higdon's Intermediate Half Marathon Training schedule, sort of as in there will be lots of modifications and adjustments depending on my schedule. Anyway, I still can't believe I got a spot for the NYC Half. I'm really excited to run it and especially excited because my twin sister in Oregon will be flying East for it as well! :)

Here's  recap of last week's workouts:

Monday 12/22 - 1 Mile and Insanity Max 30 with my sister and brother-in-law.
Insanity Max 30 is a great workout! It was my first time trying it out and I maxed out at 9 minutes 12 seconds. Maxing out is the time you need to take a break, and you take note of it so you can shoot to improve it for next time. I don't have the dvds but I'd say I did pretty good for my first time.
Tuesday 12/23 - 3 miles with my sister. It's so nice to run together again!
Wednesday 12/24 - 5 mile run.
Thursday 12/25 - 1 mile on Christmas day!
Friday 12/26 - 1 mile run
Saturday 12/27 - 2 mile run
Sunday 12/28 - 5 mile run

Not a bad week running wise! It would have been nice to add some cross training but I just didn't have the time. It has been really nice just relaxing with family and just hanging out. I've eaten way too much on this trip. Just take a look at these donuts. It's so hard to resist when these are around the house. These are from Frost donuts a place really close to where my parents live and let's just say we visited the place more than once. :p
I'm going to miss the Seattle area when we leave! Good times though! Can't wait to visit again!

How was your week?
