Half Marathon Training Week 9: 9/8-9/14

Here's a recap of last weeks workouts:

Monday 9/8 - Rest
Tuesday 9/9 5 mile run on the D&R Canal Trail.

Wednesday 9/10 - Did some speed work, 9x400's at 5K pace.
Thursday 9/11 - 3 mile run to the canal and back plus PiYo Strength intervals. PiYo was a great workout! It consisted of squats, push-ups, lunges, and more.
Friday 9/12 - Rest
Saturday 9/13 - 10 mile long run on the D&R Canal Trail.
Sunday 9/14 - Supposed to be a running rest day, but the kiddos wanted to go on a short run, so the whole fam went on a short jog/walk in the morning.
I can't believe the Wineglass Half Marathon is 3 weeks away! Training has been going well. I've been following Hal Higdon's Intermediate schedule and I've been getting all my running workouts in for the most part (with some tweaks here and there), however the cross training could be better. I only got one day of PiYo in when there should have been more.

This was the first week of both kiddos in school in the mornings, so we are still getting used to the new schedule. It's really nice to have three morning's a week to myself (my 3 year old is in preschool 3 mornings a week), but it is still kind of hectic as I need to get my run in, shower, then go to the grocery or do whatever errand I need to do (and there were a lot this week), and then pick up my kindergartner from school, and then my little preschooler. Two and a half hours goes by faster than you think. Hopefully this week will run a bit smoother and here's hoping I can get more PiYo in!

How did your week go?

  1. I remember the days of trying to fit it all into a small preschool window! It was challenging!

  2. It sure is! I think once I get the hang of the schedule and how long things take, it'll get a bit easier.

Great week! I so remember how hard it was to fit everything into that 2 1/2 hr window - goes by way too fast! Have a good week!
