Five of my Favorite Things to do on the Day After Thanksgiving

The day after Thanksgiving is for many about "Black Friday" and shopping. But for me that is not the case. I've had my share of shopping with my mom when I was younger and I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it, but I'd rather sleep in and enjoy not having to deal with lines and crowds of people trying to get a good deal.

Here is a list of five of my favorite things to do on the Day After Thanksgiving:

1) Sleep in. This year, I actually got to do that, as the kiddos are getting old enough to play on their own without bothering us. It is sooooo nice!

2) Run a mile with my 5 year old. He wanted to run with me and I couldn't say no. I love when he asks to run with me.
3) Help the kiddos decorate their gingerbread house. We've done one every year since they could actually help decorate and it has been a tradition ever since. They love to put the candy on the house and of course eat some in the process.
4. Decorate our Christmas tree. Hubby is in charge of getting it out and we all help and decorate the tree. It is a great family activity and the kiddos love putting the ornaments on the tree.
5. Go to the local Christmas tree lighting. This is another tradition we do each year. Every year since we've been in Princeton, we have gone to the Christmas tree lighting in Palmer Square. It is a fun event (even if it is cold depends on the year) as there are carolers singing Christmas songs that get you excited about the holidays. It is a great start to get into the Christmas spirit. Santa helps with the lighting ceremony and at the end, the kids can meet up with him.
These are five of my favorite things to do on the day after Thanksgiving. Do you have any traditions?

  5. Sleeping in is nice! That's cool you've gone to the Christmas tree lighting every year! We don't really have any traditions for the day after Thanksgiving. It's hard especially when we're usually out of town.
